You have the right to clear concise and understandable language so that what the IRS is trying to communicate makes sense. This goes for speaking to IRS over the phone and when they send letters and notices. You also have the right to be about to file a complaint if your service is inadequate.

What does this mean?

You have the right to know about Taxpayer Advocates and file a complaint with them.

You deserve to be treated in a fair and courteous manner.

You have the right to know about low income options if you can’t afford a representative.

You have the right to know who is contacting you at the IRS and their identifying information.
